Silver Jewellery

While gold represents vibrant and passionate elements for Weckström, silver, on the other hand, conveys cool, restrained, and subdued power. Weckström's first silver jewelry collection was named Space Silver, as it coincided with the exploration of space, including the first moonwalk that occurred in the same year. The themes of the collection revolved around space, science fiction, and psychedelic dreamscapes.

Perhaps the most famous piece from the Space Silver series is the Planetary Valleys necklace. Its shape was inspired by the drifts of snow in Weckström's home courtyard, sculpted by the wind during a snowy winter. The futuristic necklace gained international fame a few years later when it was selected for the final scene of George Lucas's first Star Wars movie as part of Princess Leia's costume. Weckström had initially planned to design an entirely new piece for the film, but due to changes in filming schedules, Lucas chose the necklace from the existing designs.

Silver has been one of Weckström's jewelry materials from the first collection onward. He has combined it with many other materials, with acrylic, in particular, causing a similar astonishment at the time as his approach to gold had initially caused.
