Bronze Jewellery
The monumental bronze jewelry series Flame Bronze (Tulipronssi) by Weckström was created in its entirety in 1971. It consists of necklaces, bracelets, rings, and bronze-buckled leather belts. The characteristic feature of the series is the gradient shades of blue and purple on the matte surfaces of the jewelry. In contrast to them, the jewelry features shiny polished ridges.
The themes of the Flame Bronze series contemplate the relationship between humans and machines. In this respect, the series can be seen as a precursor to Weckström's large bronze sculptures. Some of the products in the series also feature small elements reminiscent of machinery, similar to those used by Weckström in many of his grand sculptures.
Four pieces from the series of necklaces and rings were reproduced in 2013 and 2014. These pieces differ from their predecessors in color. In the newer pieces, flame colors have been replaced with dark patination.
