Björn Weckström (born in 1935) is a Finnish jewellery designer, sculptor, and artist. Having graduated as a goldsmith, Weckström has, over his career spanning eight decades, designed boundary-breaking and transformative jewelry in gold, silver, platinum and bronze. He fearlessly combined them with base materials and uniquely cut stones.

From the beginning of his career, Weckström aimed to break away from the traditional delicacy of jewelry design and its attached value judgments based on materials. He sought to elevate jewelry design to an equal art form alongside sculpture. A pivotal moment occurred during a journey to Lapland's goldfields when Weckström saw gold in its natural form as subtly glowing nuggets. Inspired by Lapland gold, the young goldsmith found his inspiration and distinctive expression.

Sculptural forms and rugged surfaces characterize Weckström's gold jewelry. In silver, he creates tension with more flexible curved lines. Each material in Weckström's production , from gold to granite and acrylic, possesses its own characteristic visual language and significance.

Weckström's international breakthrough came in 1965 when he won the main prize in a significant jewelry design competition in Rio de Janeiro. Simultaneously, Lapponia Jewelry, the company manufacturing his  jewelry designs, gained international recognition.

Björn Weckström became one of Finland's internationally renowned designers who has also made a career as a sculptor, with exhibitions in several European countries. For sculptures Italy provided him themes and means to realize his visions in bronze.
